High Expansion Foam Generator
High Expansion Foam Generator

CHEMGUARD High-Expansion Foam Generators produce large volumes of foam by coating a stainless steel perforated metal screen with high-expansion foam solution and expanding it with airflow generated by a water-powered fan. When used with CHEMGUARD C2 2% High-Expansion Foam Concentrate, these generators are capable of producing finished foam with expansion ratios from 332:1 up to 891:1, depending on the model and operating pressure.

Automatic Roof Door Vents
Automatic Roof Door Vents

CHEMGUARD Automatic Roof Door Vents utilize gas spring operators with integral dampers for controlled opening of the doors to prevent damage to the doors or building. The doors are held closed by a latching mechanism which utilizes a separate latching point for each door. The latch is held in place by a UL Listed 165 °F (74 °C) fusible link and releases automatically when the fusible link melts or is disengaged by a hydraulic cylinder operated by foam solution pressure supplied when the high-expansion foam system operates. The latching mechanism can also be released manually using interior or exterior pull cables. Once open, the door covers are locked in place by the hold open feature of the gas spring operators.

Foam Chambers
Foam Chambers

Designed to deliver foam directly onto the surface of flammable or combustible liquid and lessen submergence of the foam, CHEMGUARD foam chambers are installed on flammable liquid storage tanks just below the roof joint. Flow rates for these UL Listed, type 2 discharge devices (NFPA 11), can vary, depending on the application.

Foam solution is supplied to a chamber from outside the hazard area, either from a fixed foam-storage and proportioning system or from a dry-pipe semi-fixed system that receives foam solution from a mobile foam apparatus. Upon entering the chamber the foam solution is expanded and then discharged against a deflector mounted inside the storage tank. The deflector (split or solid) directs the foam against the inside wall of the storage tank, reducing the agitation of the fuel.

Foam Makers (High Back Pressure)
Foam Makers (High Back Pressure)

The CHEMGUARD high back-pressure foam maker consists of a pre-assembled body, discharge tube, turbulator, and metering orifice.

The foam makers are available in ten models (HBPFM) with nominal flow rates ranging from 100 gpm to 550 gpm (379 Lpm to 2082 Lpm).

A screened air inlet allows uniform air distribution into the foam solution stream resulting in the generation of expanded foam. The screened design helps inhibit the entrance of foreign material.

A pressure gauge, 0 psi to 300 psi (0 bar to 20.69 bar), is provided in the foam maker body to allow monitoring of the water inlet pressure. A pressure gauge shroud is integral to the cast metal body to help prevent gauge damage

Foam Makers (Rim Seal Foam Pourer)
Foam Makers (Rim Seal Foam Pourer)

The rim seal foam pourer is designed to discharge fully aspirated foam directly to the annular seal area of the open top floating roof storage tanks for fire or vapor suppression. Fully aspirated foam provides the most effective performance for all types of foam concentrates.

The rim seal foam pourer is designed utilizing the UL Listed CGFLR-30 or CGFLR-90 Foam Makers. The rim pourer design provides protection from the wind, allowing the aspirated foam to gently discharge onto the protected area of the floating roof tank. Gentle application minimizes submergence and agitation, increasing the effectiveness of the foam blanket. This design allows a uniform and cohesive foam flow.

Foam Makers (CGFM-CGFLR)
Foam Makers (CGFM-CGFLR)

The CHEMGUARD floating roof foam maker is constructed of stainless steel components for corrosion-resistance.

A screened air inlet, conforming to the cylindrical body, allows uniform air distribution into the foam solution stream to generate expanded foam. This design also helps prevent damage and inhibits the entrance of foreign materials.

Atmospheric Polyethylene Concentrate Storage Tanks
Atmospheric Polyethylene Concentrate Storage Tanks

"Standard Chemguard Atmospheric Foam Concentrate Storage Tanks are manufactured in Crosslinked polyethylene in vertical configuration. Chemguard also offers custom made tanks in stainless steel (304 or 316), carbon steel, and fiberglass. Vertical tanks are normally manufactured with flat bottoms and dome tops and horizontal tanks sit on saddles.

The fiberglass and polyethylene tanks do not have expansion domes due to the dome shape of the top of the tank. Inspection hatches are provided on both style tanks. Regardless of the material of construction, a pressure/vacuum vent must be installed. This is normally installed on the inspection hatch on the fiberglass or molded polyethylene tanks and on the cover of the expansion dome on the carbon or stainless steel tank.

Hydraulic Concentrate Control and Accessory Valves
Hydraulic Concentrate Control and Accessory Valves

Standard valve sizes are available from 1 in. to 2 1/2 in. to match the concentrate inlet thread size on the full range of CHEMGUARD proportioners and In-line Balanced Pressure Proportioner assemblies. Each hydraulic concentrate control valve assembly consists of a factory assembled and tested ball valve, hydraulic actuator, and mounting kit attaching the actuator to the ball valve. The actuator has a position indicator and manual override capability. The internal components of the actuator are designed to be compatible for use with pressurized water which is used as the means of actuation. The actuator is a double-acting type: the pressurized water supplied to the actuator can be used to either close or open the valve. However, for foam concentrate lines, the valve is normally closed and is hydraulically opened for system use. Care should be taken to ensure that the proper pressure sensing port is utilized on the actuator to drive the valve to the desired position (closed or open).

Hydraulically Operated Control Valves
Hydraulically Operated Control Valves

The standard hydraulic actuated valve assembly, also known as water-powered ball valves, consists of a factory assembled and tested quarter turn full port ball valve to which a hydraulic actuator has been attached. The ball valve has a bronze body with 316 stainless steel ball and stem, or is of all stainless steel construction. Valve seats are glass-reinforced TFE. Inlet and outlet threads are female NPT and flanges are ANSI Class 150. All valves are rated 600 psi WOG. Stainless steel flanged valves are rated 285 psi WOG.

Pressure-Sustaining Valves
Pressure-Sustaining Valves

The Chemguard pressure-sustaining valve is used in balanced pressure foam proportioning systems to maintain a set system pressure. The valve is used in combination with the foam concentrate pump to maintain consistent upstream pressure regardless of system demand.
